Facts and Uses
POTASSIUM ALUMINIUM SULPHATE – (common known names: Alum; Potash Alum)
- It is commonly used in water purification, leather tanning, dyeing, fireproof textiles, and baking powder. It also has cosmetic uses as a deodorant, as an aftershave treatment and as a styptic for minor bleeding from shaving. It is also used in very dilute solutions as mouthwash, gargle and other irrigation.

Personal care
As Deodorant: Naturally occurring Potassium Alum has been used for many years as an effective natural deodorant. This usage is attributed to its antibacterial and astringent properties.
Aftershave: Alum has astringent and styptic properties, which makes it great for use in minor cuts and abrasions or as an aftershave. It closes the pores and reduces bleeding caused by small nicks from the razor.
For Oily Skin: it helps reduce shine and grease on the face. However it is not recommended for naturally dry skin.

- Pimples: With its antiseptic and cooling properties alum powder may be used as a face mask to get rid of pimples.
- For Wrinkles: Repeated use Alum will tighten the skin and treat wrinkles. Apply moisturizer after use.
- Cracked Heels: Potash Alum relieves the painful problem associated with cracked heels.
