Facts and Uses
BORIC ACID POWDER – Is a mineral with insecticidal, fungicidal, and herbicidal properties. It is the “secret ingredient” in many of the commercial products used for insect control. It is often used as a flame retardant, antiseptic, or precursor to other chemical compounds.
Pharmaceutical Uses:
- Boric acid is a MILD antiseptic as well as a mild acid that inhibits the growth of Bacteria on the external surfaces of the body
- In very dilute solutions, it is used as antiseptic eyewash.
Pest Control:
- It is often used as an insecticide, for killing cockroaches, termites, fire ants, fleas, and many other insects. It can be used directly in powdered form for fleas and cockroaches, or mixed with sugar or jelly for ants. The boric acid in the form of a powder is applied to areas frequented by the insects
